Finestres castle (10th century)
The oldest references to Finestres castle are in documents from 947. This fortress, at an altitude of 960m, dominates the Santa Pau plain and the valley of the River Ser. It belonged to the counts of Barcelona, although nowadays there are few remains. The walls are in ruins on the ground and there are remains of a cistern. The seismic movements in the Garrotxa in the 15th century seriously affected the castle.
