The Medes volcano
Above the Medes mountains there is the most northerly volcano of the Vall de Llémena. It is located within the borders of the Natural Park of the Garrotxa Volcanic Area and is classified as a Natural Reserve. When you reach the Medes area you can clearly recognise its crater, currently occupied by pasture land.
It is in the shape of a horseshoe, which is the product of the southerly exit of one of the layers of lava associated with it.
