Rocacorba mountains
The Rocacorba mountain range (3,175 ha) is the highest point of the Gironès area. In this area of natural interest we find Puigsou (992m), the highest peak, and a little further down we find the Sanctuary of the Mother of God of Rocacorba, stood on a unique cliff in the shape of a boat, which gives it its name. The landscape is characterised by the strong presence of holm oak woodland and other groups of more continental trees such as beech (Fagus sylvatica) and oaks. The fauna is typical of Mediterranean wooded environments and mid-mountain areas.
