Cartellà and holy Christ of light

Cartellà and holy Christ of light

It is said that in the twelfth century, the lord Galcerà Cartellà, went to the crusades and asked for the protections of his wife and son to his faithful servant Samuel, who had the utmost confidence in Mr. Cartellà.

After years, seeing the Lord did not return, probably dead, the greed of becoming master of the barony of Cartellà came to Samuel.

Samuel knew that the Baroness and her son used to visit the altar for communion on Holy Thursday. The day before, went to the altar in order to poison the sacred bread. But when he put the poison over the bread, something miraculous happened. The Holy Christ on the altar shone with an intense beam of light that blinded and paralyzed Samuel. He was discovered and punished to die burned in the courtyard of the castle.

Today It is said that in stormy days you can hear his cries.
