Towns
The Vall de Llémena is a natural geographic unit around the Llémena's river. The valley is divided into four towns that belong to different counties: St. Martí de Llémena, Canet d'Adri and Sant Gregori, in the region of Gironès; and the village of Sant Aniol de Finestres in the region of Garrotxa. While there are four municipalities with their own councils, there are twenty villages that depend on one of these municipalities.
A feature of the human landscape of the valley is the presence of a pattern of settlement made by small farms and rural neighborhoods. Most of these population centers are located on the banks of the river Llémena. Although the number of population entities is very large, the most of population is concentrated in the lower basin of the river Llémena, specially in the village of Sant Gregori.
