Tradicional Cheeses from the Llémena Valley.

The cheese shop La Balda is located in the Llémena Valley. It was created in 2012.

At La Balda cheese shop we make cheese in a crafted way with raw milk from nearby farms. In our factory, in the village of Granollers de Rocacorba, located in the municipality of Sant Martí de Llémena, we follow cheese-making traditions here and there, contributing to the constellation and diversity of Catalan artisan cheeses made with raw milk.

All our cheeses are made with raw cow's milk from nearby farms, which in Girona has a lot of cow's milk and it is necessary to revalue it!

Among the cheeses we make, we can highlight Fermió, an acid coagulation (= dairy curd) cheese from raw cow's milk, soft paste and white florid skin. It is similar to the French Saint-Marcellin that is made in the departments of the Isere and Drôme, and weighs between 100 and 120 grams.
