Route 9. The Sanctuary of Santa Maria de Finestres and the Iberian village of La Palomera.

DESCRIPTION

Leave the house of Can Tura, in the village of Sant Aniol de Finestres, towards the car park on the paved road. Cross the river by the Llémena’s bridge and turn right following the direction of Mieres by Freixe. You will find the farmhouse “El Castell“ on your right side and about half mile after there is a crossroad. At this point, continue along the road on the left and leave the path on the right that leads down to Mas Can Beier. About half mile after turn left to a path that leaves the paved road. This path crosses the forest for 1,5 miles and joins the track of El Freixe. At this point turn left to the main path towards Santa Maria de Finestres. You must follow the gravel track, along which you will find the monument “la dama de la Garrotxa” and the Iberian watchtower. Go on the gravel track until “coll de la Palomera” and at about half a mile you will find a path to the right that leads up to the sanctuary. Once you have visited the sanctuary, follow the path in front of the sanctuary. It leads down to the startingpoint of the route.
